Description

We are hiring a Site Superintendent in Saskatoon. The successful applicant will succeed in a fast-paced progressive career, enjoy working with people in a team environment, and lead with excellence. This full-time salary role supports Avana’s residential development growth in Regina and as we expand nationally. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead Avana’s development portfolio consisting of a combination of high-quality multi-unit, single family residential, and commercial projects.

The Site Superintendent is responsible for oversight of the construction process and the overall construction activities within the established design, budget, and project scheduling guidelines, inclusive of the organizing, directing, controlling, and safety adherence activities on the construction site. The Site Superintendent will also work collaboratively with the Project Manager who manages all the administrative aspects of Avana’s ongoing construction projects.

The Avana team is set up to support innovation and high performance. The Site Superintendent will be allowed freedom of innovation—but that freedom has increased accountability and responsibility. Our system is geared to allow an experienced, engaged professional to make meaningful decisions (with collaboration from our construction team) to reduce duration and cost of our projects.

  • Serve as the highest authority on site, with final accountability for scheduling, quality, and safety.
  • Drive project performance by fast-tracking schedules, resource planning, and detailed execution.

  • Lead daily site operations, including oversight of all field staff, trades, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Conduct daily logs (BuilderTrend), weekly site meetings, and maintain site cleanliness and order.
  • Supervise and manage all in-field activities of the contracted trades, vendors, and suppliers to ensure quality delivery.
  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct, and control the quality delivery of all ongoing construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget.
  • Manage construction timelines using 2- and 4-week look-aheads and track planned vs. actual progress.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and support health & safety initiatives.
  • Call for, and manage, any inspections that are required. Inspections could be internal QA/QC inspections, inspections as per municipality, Avana reporting requirements and all other inspections required.
  • Oversee tools, equipment, and PME purchases and maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities for schedule acceleration, cost savings, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide 4 hours of weekend supervision biweekly, alternating with the Foreperson.
  • Attend and represent Avana at various community events and functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
