Description
Avana is hiring a Construction Lead to support our growing development portfolio across Saskatchewan. Reporting to the Site Superintendent, this full-time hourly position supports the construction of high-quality multi-unit residential, single-family residential, and commercial projects.
The Construction Lead is responsible for supporting the Site Superintendent through the construction process and the overall construction activities. This is both a working and supervisory role that will directly supervise and troubleshoot routine issues that occur on the job site. The Construction Lead will also work collaboratively with other supervisors and Project Managers. This position is compensated on an hourly basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform carpentry and general labour tasks while supporting the Site Superintendent as needed.
- Assist with site-level safety, including orientations, FLHA reviews, and competency assessments; act as senior site lead when required.
- Ensure work is completed to specifications, on schedule, within budget, and to Avana’s quality standards.
- Support daily field activities across all trades and Avana team members, including QA/QC checks and efficiency evaluations.
- Help manage trades, vendors, and suppliers to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Participate in or lead site and safety meetings; enforce safety compliance alongside the Superintendent.
- Maintain site cleanliness and delegate tasks to ensure operational efficiency.
- Provide four (4) hours of weekend supervision biweekly, alternating with the Site Superintendent.
- Represent Avana at community events and perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years of construction experience required, including experience in supervisory, management, or leadership roles.
- Strong ability to work independently while leading and collaborating effectively with a team.
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety practices and regulations.
- Carpentry trade certification considered an asset.
- Experience using Buildertrend considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a strong commitment to quality and excellence.
- Ability to exercise professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
- Satisfactory criminal record check required upon hire.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
