About the Role
At Avana, accurate financial management and reporting are essential to the success and growth of our portfolio. The accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial management of an assigned portion of Avana’s development and property management portfolio. Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant works collaboratively with other members of the accounting team and must be experienced, organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, starting at 8:00 a.m. (on-site)
What You’ll Do
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and variance analysis.
- Maintain the general ledger and complete account reconciliations.
- Review and approve invoices, support accounts payable and vendor inquiries.
- Prepare tax filings and process payroll.
- Maintain and analyze revenue records for the property management portfolio, supporting accurate reporting and forecasting.
- Own the day‑to‑day construction project accounting, including cost tracking, holdbacks, and project reconciliations.
- Support cash management activities, including liquidity monitoring, forecasting, and analysis.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, including variance analysis and reporting.
- Support year‑end close, audits, and internal controls.
- Support intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and consolidation eliminations.
- Contribute to process improvements and collaborate with cross‑functional teams
What You Bring
- 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Post‑secondary education in accounting.
- Experience in construction and/or property management accounting is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Thrives in a high-growth, fast-paced environment and adapts well to change.
