About the Role
At Avana, our people are the foundation of our success. We're looking for a Human Resources Generalist who enjoys partnering with leaders, supporting employees, and helping create a positive, high-performing workplace.
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, this role partners with leaders and employees across the organization to deliver a broad range of Human Resources programs and services. From employee relations and performance management to leadership development, employee engagement, benefits administration, and Health & Safety support, you'll play an important role in strengthening the employee experience while helping leaders succeed.

What You’ll Do
Partner with Leaders & Support Employees
- Provide guidance and support to leaders and employees on employee relations, performance management, workplace concerns, and the application of Human Resources policies.
- Assist with investigations, conflict resolution, performance concerns, and employee documentation.
- Build strong relationships and deliver responsive Human Resources support across the organization.
Develop People & Strengthen Performance
- Coordinate performance management, employee development, leadership training, and learning initiatives.
- Support talent development programs that enhance employee growth and organizational success.
- Maintain training records and monitor mandatory training requirements.
Drive Exceptional HR Operations
- Administer benefits, pension, leave, compensation, and Human Resources programs.
- Maintain employee records and Human Resources systems, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Prepare Human Resources documentation, reports, metrics, and insights to support business decisions.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Human Resources policies, processes, and programs.
Enhance the Employee Experience
- Support employee engagement, recognition, wellness, and culture initiatives.
- Coordinate employee communications, surveys, and action planning activities.
- Help foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.
Support Health, Safety & Compliance
- Support health and safety programs, WCB administration, training coordination, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and HR best practices.
- Assist with HR and safety reporting, audits, and compliance initiatives.
What You Bring
- 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a generalist or advisor role.
- Experience partnering with leaders to support employee relations, performance management, and day-to-day people matters.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to establish trust and credibility with leaders and employees.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and sound judgment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience administering employee benefits, pension, leave, and Human Resources programs.
- Experience using a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of Canadian employment legislation, Human Resources best practices, and policy application.
